Esker “Joe” Martin

Esker “Joe” Martin, a resident of Bonifay, Florida went to be with the Lord on August 10, 2021. He was 92 years old. Joe was born in Webster County, West Virginia to Lula Belle Martin and Andrew Joseph Martin.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lula Belle Bullion Martin; father, Andrew Joseph Martin; three brothers; and three sisters.

Esker is survived by his son, Larry Martin (Debra) of Huntsville, Alabama; daughter, Pam Steverson (Charles) of Bonifay; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Archie Harold Martin of Coos Bay, Oregon; and sister, Marie Martin Finkle of Summerville, West Virginia.

Memorization will be by cremation. James & Lipford Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mother Mary Lee Robinson, of Tampa, Florida, formerly of Marianna, Florida transitioned from life temporal to life eternal on Tuesday, August 3, 2021.
Mary Robinson was given the gift of life on April 16, 1922, in Marianna, Florida to the late Fred Robinson and Beatrice Brown. She made her decision to accept the free gift of salvation at an early age and was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church in Marianna FL for over 60 years. She was married to Jacorium Robinson, and they had three children: Walter, Rosemary and Earl.

Mary was reared by her father who taught her how to work hard and be committed to whatever she accepted to do. His motto was “let your word be your bond” and she made this her motto and passed it on to her children. She was employed in various industries including hotel, restaurant, domestic care and HRS sitter. Her work ethics were impeccable and she committed herself to do her very best no matter what the task entailed.

Mary was faithful to her family and loved them wholeheartedly. Most everyone knew of her passion for fishing; however, she was not only a fisher of fish, but of people of all ages. She cast her net to pull others into her life with stories and words of wisdom while always acknowledging the CAPTAIN. Mary was faithful, ingenious, sincere, helpful, resilient, maternal, adventurous, and nurturing. Her hugs were genuine. Generations of women have gleaned wisdom from her. Humor generated from Godly wisdom filled her presence. Her Mother Wit was intuitive and precise.

Graveside Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 10:00 AM from the Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM EST at Ray Williams Funeral Home in Tampa, Florida, located at 301 N. Howard Avenue, and on Friday, August 13, 2021, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM CST at Vann Funeral Home.

She is preceded in death by her parents, six siblings and three children: Robert Davis, Jr., Jenny Davis, and Walter Robinson, Sr. and granddaughter, LaKeyta Swilley.

She leaves a legacy of love with her children: Rosemary Jackson (Willie), Earl Robinson, and daughter-in-law Wilma Robinson.

Five grandchildren: Walter Robinson, Jr., Bakari Robinson (Katharyn), Roderick Robinson (Jameka), Earwin Robinson, and LaDashia Hill.

Fourteen great grandchildren; Na’Keiste Swilley, Taniyah Robinson, DeQuan Robinson, Kaliyah Robinson, Dominic Nieves, Kamryn Robinson, Evan Robinson, Roman Robinson, Charlotte Robinson, Chandler Robinson, Mya Stewart, Ry’Quise Robinson, Jay’Shon Robinson, and Ja’Kylon Robinson.

Six great great-grandchildren; La’Quentin Swilley, YuNique Swilley, Jiah Garvin, Jior Garvin, Isan Britt, Amari Butler

And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends of Greater Bethel Missionary Baptist Church (Tampa, FL).

Mr. James “Tootie” Brown Jr., age 41, of Marianna, Florida, transitioned from life temporal to life eternal on Thursday, August 5, 2021, in Jackson Hospital, in Marianna, Florida.
He was a member of Jerusalem African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Graveside Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. from the Orange Hill Cemetery with Minister Travis Ephriam, officiating.
Vann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A public viewing will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Vann Funeral Home.

Gary Dempsey, age 64, of Cottondale, FL, passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at his residence.

Gary was a kind and caring man who loved being surrounded by his friends and family. He was born June 19, 1957 in Jersey City, NJ to his parents, John James Dempsey and Yolanda Fraggipone. Gary relocated to Jackson County around 17 years ago. Gary adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with his children. He enjoyed word games, puzzles with his sister and had a great love for the New York Yankees and Giants.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, John James Dempsey and Yolanda Fraggipone.

Gary is survived by his daughters, Frances Anderson of Colorado Springs, CO, and Jennifer Price of Junction City, Kansas, brother, Jack Dempsey; sister, Gail Dempsey; and his grandchildren, Liam, Kylie, Jude and Brendan as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 12 P.M. – 1 P.M., Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home for a time of fellowship.
