Katelyn Patricia Cross of Malone, FL passed away September 24, 2019 from complications presented in Friedreich’s ataxia.
She was a 2013 Honor graduate of Malone High School and went on to further her education at Chipola College earning her Associate of Arts Degree with Cum Laude honors. She was active in the Malone Chapter of the Future Farmers of America, serving as reporter and Vice President. Katelyn also loved her sports teams. She was a Junior Varsity and Varsity cheerleader where she also served as co-captain. She was on the first Diamond Doll squad for Malone Tiger baseball. In addition, she was chosen to be an attendant on the senior Homecoming Court. Katelyn enjoyed beauty pageants and public speaking. She refused to be defined by her disease. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a member of Bascom Baptist Church.
She leaves behind her parents, John and Angela Mathis Cross of Malone; sister, Alyssa Cross; grandparents, Roland and Patricia Mathis of Malone and Betty Cross and the Late Darrell Cross of Bascom; Uncle Chuck (Susan) Mathis of Mariana; Aunt Kelly Cross( Ranea) of Brundridge, Alabama; cousins, Jessica (Austin) Thomas , Beau and Baby Brother due in November of Lynn Haven, Shelby (Leland)Thomas and Cooper of Marianna and Jordan Mathis of Marianna.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Bascom Baptist Church with Pastor Greg Roberts and Steven Welch officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Marianna with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2019 at Bascom Baptist Church.
