On 9-21-20 at approximately 2:00 p.m. the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic altercation at Spring Creek Park. During the course of the investigation Deputies learned that Kelly Sims was the passenger in a vehicle traveling westbound on Hwy 90, near Hwy 71 when she began to strike her daughter, who was driving the vehicle. Sims subsequently grabbed the steering wheel, almost causing the vehicle to crash. Sims’ daughter pulled into Spring Creek Park to avoid further incident and to keep her five month old child, who was in the vehicle, safe. Mrs. Sims did admit to striking her daughter and her daughter had injuries consistent with her account of the incident. Kelly Sims was arrested and charged with battery domestic violence. She was lodged in the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
