Victoria Fernandez Tyus, a resident of Sneads, FL for more than 57 years, was born October 25, 1942 in Tampa, Florida and went to be with her Lord on February 23, 2019 in Marianna, Florida, surrounded by her loving family. She retired as a UTRS from Florida State Hospital with 36 years of faithful service to the State of Florida. Victoria was a remarkable woman; her children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. The legacy of Victoria’s kind spirit, passion for sports and zest of life will live on through them. She was an avid Florida State and Tampa Bay Buccaneer fan and loved to play BINGO. Victoria never missed an opportunity to spend precious time with her family. She enjoyed life and was always there to brighten the lives of others. Victoria will be missed deeply, but never forgotten.
Victoria is survived by two daughters, Martha Tyus of Sneads, FL and Mary Ann Cleveland (Danny) of Tennessee; two sons, Daryl Tyus of Marianna, FL and Mike Tyus of Sneads, FL; six grandchildren, Treya, Austin, Trever, Kyle, Dylan, and Ashley; three great grandchildren, Mariyah, Kayla, and Paxton as well as her faithful canine friend and protector “Sadie”.
Victoria was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Dena Fernandez; her husband of 34 years, A.J. Tyus; a son, Jeffery Tyus and two sisters, Diana Latorie and Lily Fernandez.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at McAlpin Funeral Home on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 10:00 AM CST with Rev. John Barfoot officiating. Visitation with family and friends will be held at McAlpin Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 from 5:00 PM- 7:00 PM CST.
Interment will be at Dykes Cemetery in Sneads, FL.
