Tanner Spooner is nowhere ready to give up his football cleats and thanks to his performance on the field, he’s made it possible to keep on playing, Tyler signed before friends, teammates, family and friends to play at the college level at Webber International University in Orlando.
Spooner chose Webber over Clark University in Iowa and Huntington College in Montgomery. Spooner said he chose Webber University because, “That was the place my heart felt was the right place and I prayed about it and I felt like that’s where God told me was best.”
Spooner played his junior year of football at Marianna High before transferring following football to Graceville High School where he played his senior year. Spooner was Graceville’s quarterback and doubled as a linebacker. Webber recruited him as a quarterback.
Tanner’s plans a major in business management and excels in the classroom just as he does on the gridiron. He has a 4.0 now and anticipates finishing high school with a 3.5 or above.
Spooner didn’t hesitate when asked who he gave credit to for where he is today, “God definitely and my parents. They helped me all through this and if they hadn’t talked to me about it, I would have never gone to Graceville and this never would have happened. I love Coach Gardner (Barry).”
He is the son of Jimmy and Leigh Ann Spooner and has two sisters, Lexie who is 15 and Addy is seven and does baton.
Congratulations to Tanner Spooner from the publisher and staff of the Jackson County Times.
