Arthur James Horne, Sr. of Greenwood entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 24th in the Marianna Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was 84 years old.
He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a Deacon. He was Assistant Sunday School teacher for the men and served with the Brotherhood Ministry. He also sang with the Male Choir and the 3rd Sunday Choir. Because of his love for singing, he was also a member of the Spiritual Echoes and the Faithful Five singing groups of Jackson County.
Those left to cherish his memory and celebrate his life includes his wife of 64 years, Edna Ruth Horne; one son, Arthur James Horne, Jr.; one daughter, Otha Myrick; one brother Eddie Horne (Daisy); one sister, Luella Myrick; 11 grandchildren; in-laws, Lossie Adams (Julius), Christine Paramore, Ethel Batson (Emmett), Gloria Hearn, Jackie Horne, Fannie Horne, Cecil Ashley and Annie Bell Hearn; son-in-law, James G. Mryick, III; and a host of great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and countless friends.
A celebration of life for Deacon Horne will be Saturday, February 29th at 12 noon at Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Dwight Cockerham, Sr., Rev. Travis Ephriam, Rev. Norris Calhoun, Elder Horace Horne and Rev. David Cobb officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with arrangements entrusted to the Caring Staff at Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna.
The remains will lie in repose for one hour prior to the 12 noon funeral time on Saturday at Mt. Tabor.
