Virginia (Ginny) Jones Harris, 76, of Marianna, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Friday, May 1, 2020.
Ginny had lived in Marianna since 1982. She graduated from the nursing program at Wake Forest and was a registered nurse working at Jackson Hospital and several home health agencies, until her retirement. Ginny enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the little ones who called her “Gin Gin”. She never met a stranger and was always willing to give help to those in need. She will be missed by so many friends and family.
Ginny is preceded in death by her husband, Ausband “Frank” Harris, Sr.; her parents, Willie and Myrtle Jones of Fayetteville, NC; and a brother, James “Jimmy” Jones, of Fayetteville, NC.
She is survived by her children; son, Ausband “Butch” Harris, Jr. of Marianna, FL; daughter, Dena Davis and husband, Bobby, of Cottondale, FL; two sisters, Sherry Weigel of Altha, FL and Lisa Gould and husband, Richard “Chico”, of Boynton Beach, FL; brother, Jay “Tommy” Jones and wife, Nancy, of Barefoot Bay, FL; her beloved grandchildren, Breanna Reyes and husband, Mario, of Columbia, SC, Gentry Ward and wife, Bethany, of Columbus, GA, Hunter Ward of Cottondale, FL, Kirstie Harris of Tallahassee, FL, Ausband Harris, III of Marianna, FL; two great grandchildren, Julia Steiner and Asylia Ward, both of Columbus, GA; as well as a host of nephews and nieces that she all loved as her own, and so many dear and special friends in North Carolina and all who knew her.
No services are planned at this time. James & Sikes Maddox Chapel are in charge of arrangements. In her memory, donations may be made to Hope School of Marianna Special Olympics.
