Ruth Griggs, 91, of Malone, Florida died Saturday, March 25, 2023 at her residence.
She was born August 29, 1931 in Malone to JB and Sarah Garrett. She was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church in Malone. She enjoyed singing in the choir, was a president of the Women’s Ministry and served on various committees. Ruth volunteered at Chipola Family Ministries and was a pole supervisor of the Malone precinct of The Jackson County Elections.
Ruth was preceded in death by the father of her children, Raymond Jordan; her husband, Willie Griggs; sisters, Frances G. Anderson and Virginia G. Mathews; and brother, JB “Bubba” Garrett.
She is survived by her sons, Ray Jordan and wife, Kathy of Malone, Richie Jordan and wife, Lori of Dothan; granddaughters, Lindsey Deese and husband, Parker, Meda Richard and husband, Austin; great-grandsons, Reid, John, Raymond and Tate, and a very special friend, Mrs. Jean Peeler.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Monday, March 27, 2023 at Friendship Baptist Church with Pastor Nash Wills officiating. Burial will follow in Collins Chapel Baptist Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends from 1 PM until the time of service at the church.
