In humble submission to the will of God, the Cooper Family and Staff announces the transition of beloved son, husband, and brother, Mr. Willis Omega Cooper, LFD/LE. The final call from thy Master was answered on December 6, 2020 in the North Florida Regional Medical Center of Gainesville, Florida. Servant of God, well done! Rest from thy loved employ; The battle fought, the victory won, Enter thy master’s joy!


Willis Omega Cooper received the breath of life on October 4, 1956 in Donalsonville, Georgia. Blessed to be the second child of Mr. Zannie and Mrs. Jimmie (Long) Cooper, he was raised in a Christian home and reared in love and respect to the will of God. Willis was educated in the Public-School system of Washington County, Florida, where he was a graduate of the Roulhac High School. Upon completing his secondary education, Willis relocated to Miami, Florida and continued his education at the Miami Dade Community College where he received a degree in Mortuary Science.

During the course of his schooling and internship, in Lake City, Florida, he was employed for numerous years until God blessed him the opportunity to create a legacy for himself by establishing Cooper Funeral Home of Lake City, Florida in 2005. Serving Columbia and the surrounding counties for 15+ years, Mr. Cooper was a man of integrity, dignity, and professionalism, becoming a pillar in the community and an inspiration and mentor to many in the funeral service industry.


Mr. Cooper leaves to carry on the legacy and to cherish the lifelong memories, his loving wife: Grace M. Cooper of Lake City, Florida; five beloved children: Willis O. Cooper, Jr., Telsa Jackson, Kevin Lamar Saulsberry, Karen Cooper, Paulette (Jason) Julien; six adored grandchildren: Kiara Cooper, Daphney Cooper, Johnny Carson, Calvin J. Manning, Jr., Sharday M. Warren and Stephen W. Dunn, Jr.; seven precious great-grandchildren: Leyani Slaughter, Halo Carson, Kaycee Carson, Jayden Carson, Markai Carson, Zylah Carson and Zillina G. Manning; blessed mother: Mrs. Jimmie L. Cooper of Chipley, Florida; cherished brother and sister: Zannie R. (Thawanda) Cooper, LFD/LE of Chipley, Florida and Rayne J. (the late, Rev. Leon, LFD/LE) Cooks of Madison, Florida; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father: Mr. Zannie Cooper, LFD/LE.


A Celebration of Life and Committal Service will be held 1 PM CST, Sunday, December 13, 2020 from the sacred grounds of the Greater Buckhorn MBC Cemetery of Marianna, Florida with Rev. Tony Davis, officiating. A Public Walk-through Viewing will be held from 1-6PM EST, Thursday, December 10, 2020 in the Cooper Funeral Home Chapel of 251 NE Washington Street, Lake City, Florida 32055 and from 10 AM-6PM CST, Saturday, December 12, 2020 in the Cooper Funeral Home Chapel of 1220 Church Avenue, Chipley, Florida 32428. The ministry of comfort being provided by the Cooper Funeral Home & Florist of Chipley, Florida, and Cooks – Cooper Funeral Home & Crematory of Madison, Florida.
