Marianna Lady Bulldogs are district champions

Marianna High School girls’ basketball team has claimed the district championship and are looking for more. The Lady Bulldogs defeated Godby 58-43. With the win, the girls will host Ribault this Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. to keep their drive alive for a state championship.
Marianna got an early 13-10 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. They didn’t let up in the second quarter, outscoring Godby 20-6. At the half, it was all Marianna 43-16.
Godby posted 16 points to Marianna’s nine in the third quarter but Marianna stormed back to take a 16-11 lead in the final quarter and secure their win.
Marianna was led in scoring by senior Aleecea Hudson with 14 points, followed by fellow senior Keshunda Young with nine points. On board with seven points was another senior, Alexis Rountree, followed by senior Ayanna Blackmon and sophomore Amari Brown with six points each.
Everyone is invited to come out and support the Lady Bulldogs Thursday night (tonight) at 7 p.m.
