Leroy Alan Mears, a cherished soul, known affectionately as Alan, was a beacon of love, compassion, unwavering support, and dependable care. He passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at the age of 75, in Marianna Florida, leaving behind a legacy of profound impact and cherished memories. Born on April 29, 1948, in Broward County, Florida, to proud parents Leroy and Gracie Mears, Alan’s life was a testament to kindness, dependability, and love.

Alan’s heart was as vast as the open sky, always ready to lend a helping hand, offer reliable guidance, and provide a shoulder to lean on. His innate ability to understand and comfort others made him a pillar of strength within his family and community.

As a devoted Father, Grandfather, and great-grandfather, Alan’s impact was immeasurable. His daughters, Christine Mears, Traci Mears, and Kimberly McColgin, were blessed to have him as a role model of selflessness and kindness. His seven grandchildren—Tabetha Mears, Alan Beets, Ashley McColgin, Amber McColgin, Nicholas Pamaski, Melissa Hazell, and Hannah Frohock—remember him not only as a doting grandfather but also as a mentor who instilled values of reliability and dedication.

Alan’s seven great-grandchildren—Joey, Jonathon, Teagan, Bryce, Annabelle, Brody, and Nash—will grow up knowing the remarkable legacy of love and joy he leaves behind. His boundless care will continue to guide them throughout their lives.

Beyond his family circle, Alan’s dependable nature and helping spirit extended to a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. His willingness to go the extra mile endeared him to all who were fortunate enough to know him.

As Alan reunites with his parents, Leroy and Gracie, and his siblings Floella, Glenda, Eugene, and Jimmie, and his grad daughter Taylor. Let us find solace in the memories of his love. Even in his physical absence, his legacy of compassion will forever remain alive in the hearts of those who were touched by his presence.

In times of need, in moments of joy, Alan was the steady rock on which his loved ones could rely. His memory will continue to inspire. Rest in peace, dear Alan.

“And when great souls die, after a period peace blooms, slowly and always irregularly. Spaces fill with a kind of soothing electric vibration. Our senses, restored, never to be the same whisper to us. They existed. They existed. We can be. Be and Be better. For they existed.” -Mary Angelou
