Laura Joyce Avriett, 70, a lifelong resident of Gadsden County, Florida and affectionately known as “La-La” passed away on August 2, 2021. She was born on September 30, 1950 in Quincy, Florida to her parents, Harold “Speck” and Louise Edwards.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Rodger, of 52 years; one daughter Pam Cain (Jimmy) of Sneads, Florida and one son Rodger “Bubba” Avriett, Jr. (Crystal) of Grand Ridge, Florida; grandchildren Emily Goodwin (Zach), Amber Basford (Parker), Christine Cain (Christian), Kaylee Cain, Autumn Avriett (Cole) and great grandsons Brett and Charlie Goodwin. She also leaves behind her beloved Boston Terrier “ Turbo”, her brother-in-law Larry Brown of Chattahoochee and special friends & neighbors James Beasley and Shirley Presnell as well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Laura was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Louise Edwards and her sister Linda Brown.

Laura always enjoyed playing pranks on any and everyone she encountered, spoiling her grandchildren, going to yard sales, spending time at the beach and collecting anything Elvis as she was an avid Elvis fan. She had a servant’s heart and enjoyed taking care of everyone, especially children. She was known for her quick wit, her infectious smile and her kind and compassionate spirit.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 AM EST on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at McAlpin Cemetery (Hardaway Highway, Chattahoochee, FL) with Pastor Clinton Howell officiating.

McAlpin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
