The Sneads Lady Pirates ended their shortened season in grand fashion with a 14-4 win over the Chipley Lady Tigers. For this grudge match, coach Shawn Graham sent Kylie Stephens to the circle. Stephens went the distance (five innings), gave up four runs, three of those earned on seven hits, four walks and fanned four batters.
Offensively, Sneads scored first and ended the game with a 10-run fifth inning to make it a run-ruled win. With one out, Elizabeth ‘Sister’ Arnold singled to right field and moved to second on a passed ball. Michaela Edenfield’s slugging reputation preceded her appearance at the plate with her being issued a four-pitch walk. Taylor Lanphere put the team first and sacrificed Arnold home and Edenfield to second. Kylie Stephens showed she was as strong at the plate as she was in the circle with an RBI double up the middle before a groundout ended the inning. Chipley was held scoreless in the bottom of the inning.
In the second inning, a leadoff double by Taylor-Reese Howell was the only baserunner of the inning. Chipley plated three runs in the bottom of the inning to take their only lead of the game, 3-2.
The Lady Pirates answered with two runs in the top of the third inning starting with a leadoff walk by Hannah Stephens. Stephens was out on an attempted steal of second but ‘Sister’ Arnold quickly singled up the middle. Michaela Edenfield drew her second walk of the day with both runners advancing on a passed ball. With Arnold at third, Taylor Lanphere picked up an RBI on a single to left field. Kylie Stephens landed another double before a lineout to first ended the inning.
Both teams put up zeroes in the fourth inning. Sneads exploded in the fifth inning offensively. With one out, ‘Sister’ Arnold singled and moved to second on a passed ball. Michaela Edenfield singled to score Arnold before scoring on a single by Taylor Lanphere. Hannah Stephens singled, followed by Aurlee Perkins with a double to the left side to drive in a pair of runs. Taylor-Reese Howell took advantage of a Chipley miscue, with Georgia Scott doubling home two runs. Jada Coleman reached on an error that allowed Scott to score before Hannah Stephens took one for the team. ‘Sister’ Arnold brought the crowd to their feet when she cleared the bases on a shot over right center field. Michaela Edenfield reached on an error, followed by a two-out walk to Kylie Stephens. Aurlee Perkins loaded the bases when she drew a walk but the bags were left full of Lady Pirates, with no worries as they had secured their 14-4 win.
