Kirby Harol Melton, 74, passed away February 15, 2019 at his home in Altha. Kirby was born November 20, 1944 to Eldridge Melton and Lucille Ayers Melton.  He was a 1962 graduate of Altha High School and lived his entire life in Altha. Following high school, Kirby and his brother, Don, began a farming operation that became Melton Brothers Farms. They operated their family business together for the remainder of their lives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldridge and Lucille Ayers, his brother Don Melton and his sister, Carolyn, who passed away at the age of 2.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Haley Melton Ellerbee (John) of Marianna, Cindy Melton Grantham of Altha and Will Melton (Julie) of Marianna. Six grandchildren and their spouses, Marsana Brunner (Charlie) of Blountstown, Tyler Ellerbee (Heather) of Grand Ridge, Ethan Ellerbee of Pensacola, Patrick Pitts (Aleysia) of Panama City, Payton Melton and Parker Melton of Marianna. Great grandchildren, Annalyn Meneses of Blountstown, Carson Stafford, Cheston Stafford, and Callen Ellerbee of Grand Ridge.

Kirby is also survived by a sister-in-law, Gladys Melton of Altha, great-nephew, Phillip Melvin (April) and their daughters, Taylor and Kara also of Altha. 

He had a special place for “The Boys” that are the farm family; Buddy Alday, Freddie Davis, Ricky Roberts, William Scott and Dylan Eady.

The family would like to express their gratitude to his kind and loving caregivers, Tonya Chason (Nanny TT), Linda Gates, Stanley Waldorff, Crystal Finuff Chason, and Carol Finuff.

Services will be held at Peavy Funeral Home on Monday, February 18, 2019 at 3:00 p.m.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow at Chipola Cemetery in Altha. All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown.
