John Wesley Stone, lifelong resident of Shady Grove, passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at the age of 84. He was born on October 1, 1936 to the late Isaac Hugh Stone Sr. and Elmira Waldroff Stone and was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. John was a Veteran of the United States Army and worked as a farmer most of his life. He enjoyed tending to his cattle and working the land. John loved spending time with family and was proud of his deep southern heritage.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Isaac Hugh Stone Jr.; two sisters, Violet Becton and Ann Dykes; one sister-in-law, Frances Stone.
John is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Alberta Stone of Shady Grove, FL; one son, Chris Stone and wife Michelle of Shady Grove, FL; three sisters, Mary Ella Jensen of Lake City, FL, Myra Shiver and husband Mark of Dellwood, FL, and Patsy Sneads of Marianna, FL; one grandson, Johnny Stone of Shady Grove. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Mr. John will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. CST at Shady Grove Cemetery, with Reverend Alvin Roberts officiating.
Flowers will be accepted, or donations can be made in honor of Mr. John to the Shady Grove United Methodist Church (7305 Birchwood Road, Grand Ridge, FL 32442).
