James H. Goodson age 71 of Marianna, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, June 22, 2019. He was a native of Marianna, born on September 15, 1947 to N. H. Goodson and Esther Thomas Goodson. He worked in the Insurance industry for over 30 years, first with Independent Life Insurance and then opening his own office with Northwestern Mutual. He served on the Jackson County School Board from 1988 – 1996. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
James was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers Donald, McCoy, Tim, Wayne, Paul Goodson, brother-in-law Odell Ward and daughter, Jana Goodson Baggett.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Nina Morris Goodson, daughters Wendy Cooper and husband Thomas of Austin, Texas, Lori Harris and husband Louy of Marianna, sister Evelyn Goodson Ward of Marianna, granddaughters Haleigh and Hilary Cooper of Austin, Texas, Abbi Rushing of Marianna, and grandson Sam Baggett of Marianna. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces and extended family members.
Services for James will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, June 26, 2019. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
