Ila Cairol Ostrander, age 92, gained her angel wings on Friday, January 7, 2022, at Southeast Health Hospital in Dothan AL. She was born in Belleville, Illinois on May 17, 1929 to James Carroll Coffee and Marie Stewart Coffee. Cairol graduated from Florida State Hospital School of nursing in the late 1950’s and further pursued her career, graduating from anesthesia school at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, LA. She practiced anesthesia for about 40 years, working at Jackson, Blakely, Blountstown and Quincy hospitals. She also was an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner and worked at the Jackson County Health Department. Cairol was a woman of many talents. She was an excellent cook, seamstress, and loved to paint. She spent her life caring for others. She will always be remembered for her sweet smile, big heart and giving spirit. Her death is felt surely by many lives she touched including clinician colleagues as well as thousands of patients she cared for and helped over the years. She was a remarkable person and a dedicated and talented CRNA.

Cairol was preceded in death by her parents, James Carroll Coffee and Marie Stewart Coffee.

She is survived by her loving husband, Billy Ostrander of Marianna, FL; children, Michael Brawley (Connie) of Ocala, FL; and Diann Neel (Sean) of Recovery Community, Lake Seminole, GA; five grandchildren, Jessica Brawley (Craig), David Brawley (Triscia), Matt Neel (Emily), Jessica Chavers (Stephan), and Hunter Neel (Brittny); and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be 3:00 PM CST Monday, January 10, 2022 at James & Sikes Funeral Home with Rev. Emory Smith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at James & Sikes Funeral Home. A private burial will be held in Roseland Cemetery in Monticello, Florida.

The family is grateful for the exemplary nursing and stellar kindness and compassion she received from the staff at SE Health. Our hearts were touched and our spirits comforted during the darkest moment of our lives.
