Hoyt Joiner, age 91, of Bristol, FL passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at his home. Hoyt was born October 27, 1931, in Dry Springs, Florida to James Joiner and Rachel (Stewart) Joiner and lived in Liberty County most of his life. He served in the United States Air Force for four years, worked at Saint Joe Paper Mill, and was a deputy for Liberty County under, Sheriff Cloyce Rankin, he also was the owner and operator of J & S Vault Monument company, after retirement, he went on to work at Liberty County Waste Management. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends. Hoyt was a member of the Lake Mystic Baptist Church in Bristol FL, where he served as a deacon of the church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Polly (Summers) Joiner; his parents; and eleven siblings. Survivors include one son, Clifford Joiner of Bristol, FL; one daughter, Blanche (Joiner) Traylor and husband, Jimmy of Bristol, FL; one sister, Ola Cavens of Memphis, TN; one sister-in-law, Peggy Duggar of Bristol, FL; grandchildren, Karrie Hosey and husband, Reggie of Orlando, FL; Jeremiah Waller and wife, Mary of Bristol, FL; Shawna Small and husband, Matt of Maine; Candice Dean of Woodville, FL; great-grandchildren, Austin Waller, Caydan Waller, Garrett Lewis, Jake Traylor, Alyssa Small, Morgan McClendon, and Emma Dean; great-great-grandchildren, Haizley Jenkins and Westin Ayer. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. (EDT) from the graveside at Eureka Cemetery in the Orange Community in Liberty County with Reverend Jerry Chumley officiating. Interment will follow. The family will accept flowers but anyone wishing to make contributions can do so to the Lake Mystic Baptist Church Building Fund or to Covenant Hospice. All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown, FL.
