Margaret Marie Cumbie Edenfield, 95, of Marianna, died Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Marianna Health and Rehabilitation Center with family by her side. Margaret was born February 21, 1929, to Edgar Lee and Estell Money Cumbie in the Shady Grove community. She married Ellis D. Edenfield on July 5, 1947, and graduated from Grand Ridge High School in 1948. Margaret was a career employee at Florida Industrial School for Boys (Arthur G. Dozier School for Boys). She was instrumental in making the many costumes for the figures in the famous Christmas displays at the school. She was particularly proud of the Santa Claus costumes at the entrance to the school. She had a love for veterans and was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 100 serving in many leadership positions. She was a woman of strong faith and was an active member of Christian Center Church for many years until her health began to fail It was here that she used her sewing talents to design and make costumes for many church programs. She is predeceased by her husband; parents; siblings, Alton Cumbie, TJ Cumbie, Edith Heifner, Milton Cumbie, Eldridge Money; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Diane Edenfield. She is survived by her sons, Dwight Edenfield, and wife, Charlotte, of Marianna, and Rodney and wife, Brenda, of Clayton, North Carolina; grandchildren, Justin Edenfield, and wife, Kristy, of Tallahassee, Florida, Julie Sangaree and husband, Michael, of Marianna, Matthew Edenfield, and wife, Marcy, of Durham, North Carolina, and Elizabeth Edenfield of Clayton, North Carolina; great-grandchildren Molly Edenfield and Morgan Edenfield, of Durham, North Carolina, Jackson Edenfield and Jacob Edenfield of Tallahassee, Florida, and Brynn Sangaree and Willa Sangaree of Marianna, Florida. Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 10 am at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with Rev. Gino Mayo presiding and James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emerald Coast Hospice, 3015 Jefferson Street, Suite C & E, Marianna, Florida 32446.
