Howard I. Owens, age 93, of Grand Ridge, FL, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 25, 2021 at his residence.
Howard was born May 1, 1928 in Wausau, FL to the late Henry Owens and Neatie Finch Owens. Howard was born into a large family and was one of fourteen children. He served in the U.S. Army and was accredited a Purple Heart during his service in the Korean Conflict. He moved to Grand Ridge from Panama City in 1963 and worked as a supervisor at Sunland for many years. Howard was a member of Pleasant Hill Holiness Church where his wife, Marlene, was the Pastor for many years. He and Marlene were devoted and in love with over 68 years of marriage.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene; two sons, Dennis Owens and wife, Melissa of Grand Ridge and Darvin Owens and wife, Lisa of Grand Ridge; brothers, Ray Pettis of Lubbock, TX, T.D. Pettis and wife, Edna, N.B. Pettis, A.D. Pettis all of Wausau, FL; sister, Lottie Glass of Lynn Haven, FL, Vita Steverson and husband, Charles of Bonifay, FL; grandchildren, Tyrell Owens, Victoria Griffith, Savannah Owens, Kelsey Dyke, Keely Grice; four great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Welcome Assembly of God Church with Reverends Danny Jackson, Dallas Pettis, and Jimmy Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Carpenter Cemetery with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of service at the Church.
