Donnie Rogers age 67 of Cypress, Florida passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 1, 2021 in Tallahassee, Florida surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Dellwood, Florida on January 12, 1954 to William Preston Rogers and Mary Daniels Rogers. He met the love of his life Martha Jo in 1974 at Panama City Beach. It was love at first sight. Together they raised a son, Donnie D. and a daughter, Melissa. Donnie retired from the Florida Department of Corrections after 25 years of dedicated service. He will be remembered as a loyal and loving man especially by his family, friends and many canine companions. Donnie never met a stranger or kept a smile to himself. He will be remembered as being a people person that always wore a big smile on his face. Donnie enjoyed life and was known as the “rambling man”. He loved a good river or beach trip and enjoyed being surrounded by his family and friends. Donnie will be missed but never forgotten.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, William Preston Rogers and Mary Daniels Rogers.
Donnie is survived by his precious loving wife of 46 years, Martha Jo Rogers; his daughter, Melissa Harrell of Cypress; his son, Donnie D. Rogers, II (Marcia) of Cypress; two sisters, Connie Weygandt of Crystal River and Betty Harrison of Chicago; three grandchildren, Brayden, Dylan and River as well as a host of special nieces and nephew that he loved dearly.
Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 AM CST on Monday, April 5, 2021 in the Cypress Cemetery with Rev. Chris Franklin officiating and McAlpin Funeral Home directing.
