Don W. Morris, age 71 of Marianna Florida gained his angel wings with his wife and daughter by his side on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at VITAS Hospice Care in Panama City, Florida.

Don was born December 16, 1951, in Marianna Florida to the late Fred “Speedy” and Raynell Morris. He graduated from Marianna High School and studied at Chipola College.

Don followed in his father’s footsteps creating a love and passion for music. He started his music career by playing the drums at the age of 12 in his father’s band, “Speedy Morris and the Night Owls”. He then continued his career by forming his own band “Southern Impact” and was well known in the local music scene.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marianna, a Past Exalted Ruler of the Marianna Elks Lodge #1516, and an active member of the Optimist Club of Jackson County, where he was named Optimist of the Year in 2021.

Don was an avid Florida State Seminoles fan and bled Garnet and Gold. He and his wife attended many games over the years. Some of his hobbies included coaching, golfing, fishing, gardening and being outside every chance he had.

Don was married to the love of his life and soulmate, Ouida Morris for 24 years. They shared many adventures and memories that will forever be cherished. When together, the world felt like it was in perfect harmony.

Don was proceeded in death by his parents, Fred “Speedy” and Raynell Morris; Son, Steven Morris; Sisters, Joyce Rand, Sandra Cotita and Sheila Cook.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ouida Morris of Marianna; Son, Shannon Morris of Marianna; Son, Jason Morris of Duryea Pennsylvania, Daughter and Son-in-law, Brandi & Tony Bartush of Dupont Pennsylvania; Stepson, Mark Bylsma of Marianna and 6 Grandchildren.

Services are being held on Friday, February 24, 2023, at the First Presbyterian Church in Marianna (2898 Jefferson Street, Marianna Florida 32446) at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ted Land officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. A Christian Burial will take place at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens following the service with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

Pallbearers are lifelong friends, Ray Riley, Mike Donahue, Hubert Christmas, Bruce Turnbull, Alvin Webb and Danny Worley.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Don to the Optimist Club of Jackson County, P.O. BOX 943, Marianna Florida 32447.

The family would like to thank all the Doctors, Nurses and staff at Gulf Coast Regional Hospital and VITAS Hospice Care in Panama City for their care of Don.
