Aubrey “Sonny” Lawrence Bryan


Aubrey “Sonny” Lawrence Bryan, age 92, of Graceville, FL, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023 at the Northwest Florida Community Hospital.

Sonny was born November 25, 1930 in Coffee County, Alabama and was a lifelong resident of Graceville, FL. He was the son to the late Giles D. and Isabel Bryan. Sonny was a Corporal in the U.S. Army and served his country proudly during the Korean War. He was a longtime employee with the Jackson County School System and the Holmes County School System where he was a school teacher and retired as a Guidance Councilor. He was also a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Graceville. Sonny held various office in Graceville and was an active member in the Lions Club for over 55 years; receiving the award for Lions Club man of the year and the Melvin Jones Fellow Award for dedicated humanitarian service. He was also a member of the American Legion for 67 years. Sonny also received the Deacon Emeritus at the First Baptist church where he was a Sunday School teacher and one of the oldest church members. He married the love of his life, Sara Bryan and was married for 62 years.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sara Bryan; parents, Giles D. Bryan and Isabel Kilcrease Bryan; three brothers, James, Wilden and Orel Bryan; four sisters, Maurine Mazler, Aazel Williamson, Mildred Helms and Juanita Carpenter.

Sonny is survived by his son, Kenneth Bryan and wife, Penny of Alford, FL; daughter, Jennifer Bryan of Graceville, FL; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 3P.M. Sunday, March 12, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in Graceville, FL with Dr. Naethan Hendrix and Reverend Donnie Marlar officiating. Burial will follow in Marvin Chapel Cemetery with Williams Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning one hour prior to the service at the church.
