On September 24, 2023, Susan Renee Jackson Carr, 67, of Grand Ridge, FL passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family.
Susan was born on February 23, 1956 to James Leslie and Orrie Vernice Jackson. After graduating from Grand Ridge High School in 1974, she obtained an Associate in Arts degree from Chipola College. From there she would go on to become a legal secretary for over forty years.
In November of 1981, Susan married Richard Harlan Carr and would later give birth to their only daughter, Ashley, in 1993.
It was no secret that Susan loved the Lord with her whole heart for her whole life and this love was evident in everything she said and did. Whether she was caring for her family, laughing with her friends, or faithfully serving as the piano player and worship leader at her church her love of Jesus shined through. Everything Susan touched, be it a heart, a hurt, or a home, she made better, and the world will forever be a better place because of her life.
Susan was preceded in death by her father, James Leslie Jackson, her mother, Vernice Jackson, and sister-in-law, Dianne Jackson.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Carr, of Grand Ridge; daughter, Ashley Hess, and son-in-law, Nicholas, of Marianna; sister, Donna Braxton and brother-in-law, Holland, of Grand Ridge; brother, James “Jim” Jackson, of Darien, GA, as well as a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be 10 AM Friday, September 29, 2023 at New Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Dellwood with Rev. Shaun Miles officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Thursday, September 28, 2023 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
