Edhitt Alarcon

Edhitt Alarcon, age 96, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024 at Chipola Health and Rehabilitation Center in Marianna, FL.

Edhitt was born February 20, 1928 in Copiapo, Chile and was the daughter of the late Aureliano and Earnestina Alvarez. She moved to the United States in 1975 and worked in New Jersey as a dental technician. She later relocated to Slidell, LA before moving to Marianna in 2019. Edhitt enjoyed gardening, sewing, and knitting for the NICU babies and the pregnancy center babies. She was known as a hard worker that loved spending time with her family and was always willing to help others however she could.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roque Alarcon; daughter, Katya Titus; brothers, Aurelino Osses, Patricio Osses, Ohiggns Osses; sister, Rudy Osses; and grandson, Michael Titus

Edhitt is survived by her daughter, Angela Lang and husband, Larry, of Marianna, Florida; son, Alexandro and wife, Elizabeth of Santiago, Chile, sister, Emerita Osses of Chile; grandchildren, Andres, Lorena, Macarena, Paula, Erika, Daniel, Kristina, Patrick, Jonathan, and Mark; as well as eight great grandchildren. 

No services are planned at this time. Memorialzation will be by cremation with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Joyce Ann Freeman, of the Poplar Springs Community in Marianna, Florida transitioned from life temporal to life eternal on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Southeast Health in Dothan, Alabama.

Homegoing Celebration of Life services will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 11:00 AM from the sanctuary of Rivertown Community Church located at 4534 Lafayette Street in Marianna, Florida 32446 where the Reverend Paul Smith is the pastor.

Vann Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Interment will be in the Popular Springs Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Freeman will lie in repose at the church from 10:00 AM until time for the service.

A public viewing will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Vann Funeral Home.

She leaves to cherish a lifetime of fond, yet precious memories, a loving and devoted family:

Mr. Malcom Godwin, of Greenwood, Florida transitioned from life temporal to life eternal on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Gadsden Memorial Hospital in Quincy, Florida.

Memorial Homegoing services will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Vann Funeral Home located at 4265 Saint Andrews Street in Marianna, Florida 32448. Memorialization will be by cremation.

Betty Brown Duffee

Betty Brown Duffee, 95, of Marianna died Sunday, April 21, 2024 at her residence.  She was born December 25, 1928, to Ausburn and Rosa Lee Brown in Pike County, Alabama.  She attended Auburn University where she received her bachelor’s degree.  Betty then attended the University of Mississippi where she received her master’s degree.  She was an active member of Marianna First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.  Betty taught school in Jackson County for 34 years. All of her students were very special to her, but the first class she taught, Grand Ridge Class of ’63, always held a special place in her heart. Betty continued her service in education by being elected to the Jackson County School Board in 1996, where she served for four terms. In all of her decisions, she always put the children first. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest M Duffee; her parents, Ausburn and Rosa Lee Brown; one brother, Claude Brown; son, Tom Kiser;  and grandson,  Ernest Duffee, III.   Betty is survived by two sons, Ernest M Duffee, Jr. (Claudia), and Alan B. Duffee, of Marianna, FL; daughter,  Diane Duffee Kiser of Auburn AL; two brothers, Sammy Brown and John Brown; and two sisters, Mildred Burleson and Sue Edwards; four grandchildren, Thomas Kiser, Daniel Duffee, John Duffee, and Kimberly Kiser.  She is also survived by extended family, Jeff and Gay Allen, Bill and Charlotte Gardner, Neil and Elizabeth Glover, Elizabeth Gill, Will Glover and Laurence Glover, Frank and Pam Bonderaunt, and Jamey and Gayle Westbrook. Graveside funeral services will be Friday, April 26, 2024 beginning at eleven o’clock in the morning at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with Dr. Nathan Attwood & Reverend Bill Elwell officiating and James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 – 7pm in the Wesley Center at First United Methodist Church. Kathy Marie Wyman, 64, of Marianna, Florida died Sunday, April 21, 2024 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

She was born November 26, 1959, in Atchison, Kansas to the late Billy and Lois Demmon.

She loved to travel! Cruising and going to the mountains were some of her favorite destinations. She loved her kids and grandkids; Nana was absolutely her favorite title. She loved the Lord and her family dearly.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 33 years, Wayne Wyman; children, Kelli and JJ Cloud, Kevin and Jenni Pitts, Billy Kyle and Kayla Wyman; siblings, Karen and Chico Hernandez, Charli and Colby McConnell; grandchildren, Kayne Sullivan, Kevin Sullivan, Kaiden Pitts, Rese Pitts, Alec Shankland, Bryson Shankland, Alora Shankland, Billy Kyle Wyman Jr., Koni Wyman; nieces, Jennifer Young, Sailor McConnell; nephew, Josh Dean; great-niece, Karmen Garza Lashley; three great nephews, Alex Garza, Garrison Dean, Logan Dean; and many friends who loved her dearly.
