Mr. Dairel Lushawn Newton, Jr. age 38 of Orlando, FL (formerly of Jackson County FL) passed away Friday September 22, 2023 at Dr. P. Phillips Hospital in Orlando, FL surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday September 30th at St. Paul A. M. E. Church located at 5130 Highway 273 Campbellton, FL, with Reverend Melenda T. Smith and Dr. George Fluellen officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with McKinnie Funeral Home of Campbellton, FL directing.
Public viewing for family and friends will be held from 4- 6 p.m. Friday, September 29th at the Shira Sr. and Chelcie McKinnie Memorial Chapel located at 5304 Bowden Hill Road Campbellton, FL.
Dairel Lushawn Newton, Jr. (a.k.a. Shawn) was born on January 26, 1985, in Fort Knox, KY to Carolyn Simmons and Dairel Newton Sr. He was born to military parents therefore he attended various schools during his primary years to include Weaver Elementary, Weaver, AL, Graceville Elementary, Graceville, FL, North Dodge Elementary, Eastman, GA, Telfair Elementary, McRae, GA, and Hampton Elementary, in Hampton, SC where he also completed high school at Wade Hampton High. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. Phillip Missionary Baptist Church in Campbellton, FL.
He played football and basketball through school. He attended Florida Technical College and received a HVAC certification. He worked with ZRS Management and continued to build upon his craft.
He enjoyed making people laugh and cooking, he was a self-proclaimed comedian and chef. He had a heart of gold and believed in helping people even if it meant giving them his last.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Alta Mae Kendrick Simmons, and maternal grandfather Farris Simmons, Jr., his paternal grandmother Willie Mae Lewis Newton and paternal grandfather Theodore Newton Sr.
He leaves cherished memories with his daughter: Dashanti Newton (Germontrae Roberson) of Charlotte, NC, two sons: Devin Williams Newton of Orlando, FL and Brandon Smith Newton of Graceville, FL; his mother: Carolyn Newton-McClendon (Willie) of Eastman, GA, his father: Dairel Newton, Sr., of Leesburg, FL; one sister: Deetra Newton-Seegobin; four nephews: Daunte Seegobin, Caidrian Seegobin, Caileb Seegobin, Daijon Seegobin and one niece: Cailah Seegobin all of Sanford, FL. He also leaves to mourn his passing Joi Johnson who he said made him very happy. His brothers not by blood but love Sherwin Zach Cohen, Gary Brunson, Spencer Adams, Kerwin Davis, and Trent Scott, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Dairel Lushawn Newton Jr., fondly known as “Biggie” by his sister, “Figg” by his childhood friends, and Shawn by all of his family will truly be missed on this side.
