Jennifer Nicole Plass, age 44, of Marianna, FL passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL.

Jennifer was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on November 22, 1979 to the late Robert and Anita Plass. She was affectionately known by many names including Jen, Aunt Jenna, Ms. Plass, JP, Plassy, and Bob’s Daughter. Jennifer graduated from Marianna High School in 1997 and went on to attend Troy University where she earned her Bachelors in Business Administration. She later attended Florida State University where she earned her Masters in Elementary Education. Jen spent a number of years living in Aspen, CO enjoying the mountains and managing ski resorts; and eventually settled back in Jackson County to teach. Jennifer taught second through fifth grade and Art at several schools throughout Jackson County for over ten years. In 2022, she was selected by the US Department of Veterans Affairs to work as a Human Resources Specialist recruiting healthcare professionals to treat and care for our nation’s heroes. Jen had a deep love for traveling and had visited multiple countries throughout Europe and Asia as well as Australia and New Zealand. She also loved kayaking, hiking, going to concerts, puzzles, sarcasm and sharing her opinion on politics. She will be missed by all who had the privilege to know her.

Jennifer was preceded in death by her parents, her paternal grandmother, Helen Palmer Plass; her maternal grandparents, Leon Scamihorn and Clara Richardson Scamihorn; nephew, Nicholas Plass and aunt, Janet Portzer.

She is survived by her sister, Rebecca Oden and husband, Tramaine of Hattiesburg, MS; her grandfather, Robert W. Plass of Pleasant Valley, NY as well as a nephew and host of nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends; and her beloved pup, Hilly.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 10, 2024 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Reverend Gino Mayo officiating.

The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
