Doris Herndon Mayo, 90, of Lynn Haven, FL passed away peacefully on October 1, 2023. Doris was born the daughter of Wesley and Inez Herndon of Calhoun County on November 25, 1932. She was a lifetime member of the Carr Chapel Advent Church. Doris loved family, southern gospel music, crocheting, and watching football. Most of all she enjoyed her visits with her family, including three great granddaughters, Rylee, Raegan, and Emily. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 62 years, James Clifford Mayo; siblings, Jewel Smith, Opal O’Neal, Inez Spikes, Earl Herndon, Warren Herndon, Laryce Koening, H.V. Herndon, Boyd Herndon, and Violet Jones. Left to treasure her memory are her daughter, Beverly Lemieux (Larry); son, Greg Mayo (Julieanne); grandchildren, Larry Lemieux, Jr, Ryan Lemieux (Courtney), Wesley Mayo (Stevie), Jessica Parker (Josh), Amanda Hughes (Michael); step grandchildren, Tyler Chizmar (Michelle), Lindsey Parker (Anthony); great grandchildren, Rylee Lemieux, Raegan Lemieux, Reed Lemieux, Emily Lemieux, Beau Mayo, Avery Parker, Sophie Parker, Cason Waller, Aubrey Waller; step great grandchildren, Jemma Chizmar, Waylon Chizmar, Gracie Kelly, Harper Kelly, Timmy Kelly, Reagan Kelly; many special nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Visitation will be held Friday October 6, 2023, at the Carr Chapel Advent Church in Clarksville, FL from 10:00 AM (CT) until service time. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM (CT) with Reverend Eugene Millins officiating. Interment will follow at Herndon Cemetery in Clarksville. All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown, FL.
