Terry DuBose, 76, of Panama City, FL passed away on May 31st at his with home with his wife Katherine right by his side.
Terry was born Nov 15th, 1947, in Andalusia, AL, the son of Edward and Tina DuBose.
He graduated from Andalusia High School in 1966, then went on to the University of Alabama on a football scholarship where he played tight end and lettered under Coach Paul Bryant. He earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing in the school of Journalism.
Terry married his childhood sweetheart, Katherine Anthony DuBose on December 31st, 1971, in Andalusia, AL. They enjoyed fifty-two and a half wonderful years of marriage. Terry and Katherine have three children together and eight grandchildren.
He had a long career in banking, starting as a teller at First Bank of Marianna. He advanced to eventually become President of First Bank. In 1992, the bank merged with SouthTrust and the family moved to Panama City where he oversaw all bank locations from Tallahassee to Pensacola. Terry’s true love was community banking and went on to start Emerald Coast Bank and Coastal Community Bank. During his career he served on the board of the Florida Bankers Association and as President of the Florida School of Banking. In 2022 he was inducted into Andalusia’s Hall of Fame honoring him for his achievements in sports and the impact he made within the community. Above all, Terry loved the relationships he formed through his career and helping other people have the means to fund their dreams.
Terry loved the Lord, his church, and serving on the board at Blue Lake Camp. He was passionate about all sports…especially Alabama football and any sport one of his grandchildren were playing in. He loved fishing in the Gulf with his son, his daughters, and his grandchildren. A perfect day for Terry would be smoking ribs and having all his family over to celebrate special occasions. His love for his family was remarkable, and he had a great gift of finding the positivity in any situation.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Katherine, his son and daughter in law, Anthony and Tiffany DuBose, his daughter Brantley Byers, and his daughter and son in law Troy and Elizabeth Parker. His grandchildren, Terry Byers, Ella Katherine DuBose, Banks Byers, Emma DuBose, Anthony Falke, Eiland Byers, Ash Falke, and Reece DuBose all of Panama City, FL. He also is survived by his brother Steve DuBose (Linda) of Boaz, AL.
Preceded in death are Terry’s parents Ed and Tina DuBose.
Visitation will be held June 6th at 1:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service starting at 2:00 p.m. They will both be at First United Methodist Church (822 E Hwy 98, Panama City, FL 32401). Jeremy Pridgeon will be conducting the service. For those who wish, donations can be made to First United Methodist Church of Panama City or Blue Lake Camp in Andalusia, AL.
