Barbara Sue Shouppe, age 70, of Cottondale, FL, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, AL.

Barbara was born in Jackson County and attended Cottondale High School where she met her loving husband, Billy, at the age of 17. They later married and had five wonderful children. Barbara began her working career at Vanity Fair before opening her private daycare center where she worked from home. She was a member of Pilgrim Rest Assembly of God Church and loved Jesus and her church family. She was intentional on spreading the word of God and would even tell you about him on her phone voicemail. Her favorite past times included fishing, yard sales and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Jerome Mills and Lillie Mae Mitchell Broome. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Buddy Mills; sister, Darlene Richie; mother in law, Melba Shouppe; brother in law, Gerald Burlison; and nephew, Cade Wheeler.

Barbara leaves behind her husband, Billy; four sons, Billy Shouppe, Jr. and B.J. Shouppe of Cottondale, FL, Brent Shouppe and wife, Nina of Chipley, FL, and Brad Shouppe and wife, Courtney of Dothan, AL; daughter, Brittany Melvin and husband, Jonathan of Alford, FL; sister, Dorothy Gilkey and husband, Willie of Dothan, AL; grandchildren, Cameron, Caleb, Gracie, Rylan and Hailyn Shouppe, Brianna, Jordyn, and Mason Melvin; great grandchildren, Faith, Presley and Ivy James Shouppe; brothers in law, Eddie Shouppe and wife, Debbie, Jeff Shouppe and wife, Kim; sisters in law, Jackie Burlison, Wanda Bass and husband, Lamar, Cathy Williams and husband, Richard, and Annette Mills; along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 2 P.M. Monday, August 7, 2023 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Reverends James Lamb and Shane Martin officiating. Interment will follow in First Assembly of God Cemetery in Cottondale with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Barbara’s grandchildren.
