Thomas Franklin Harrell, Sr., age 82, passed away at his home in Wewahitchka on Saturday, December 2, 2023. “Tom” was born in Winston Salem, North Carolina on June 20, 1941, to James Tolva and Annie Lee Harrell. Tom proudly served his country for three years as a member of the United States Army. He was a graduate of Vernon High School and later received his Associates Degree from Okaloosa Walton Junior College. Tom was employed by the Florida Department of Corrections and retired after 30 years of service. Tom loved fishing, golfing, and watching football, especially the Florida State Seminoles. His religious affiliation was with Chipley’s First Free Will Baptist Church. Tom is survived by his wife of 38 years, Linda; his children Franky and Lee Harrell, and Melissa Colson, of Crestview and one stepdaughter, Pamela and Kellard Jansen of Wewahitchka; Grandchildren Mary Lee Michele, Donovin, Angel, Addison, Kemison, Rylee, Mekenzie, and Kendall; Ashley and James Taunton, Angie Padgett, and Brittany Brown; Great grandchildren Noah, Lillie, Ivy, Bailey, and Raylene, and his sisters Sarah Shields and Judy Cox. He was proceeded in death by his siblings James Harrell and Laura Coleman and grandson Marvin Harrell. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 1:00 pm (central) at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown, Florida. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Corrections Foundation, 501 South Calhoun St., Tallahassee, FL 32399. All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown, FL.
