Steven Grant Blighton, 35 unexpectedly took his final breath entering eternal rest on August 16, 2023, at his home in Marianna, Florida.
Steven was born and raised in Greenwood, Florida. He graduated from Jackson Applied Tech in 2006. Shortly after graduation he joined the United States Army in 2008, where he served his country with pride for almost six years prior to being honorably discharged. When Steven returned back to Jackson County, he held a few different jobs including agricultural work, corrections, contracting and construction work. Steven was employed by JB’s Contracting where he will forever be remembered for his hard work ethic, variety of skills on the jobsite, great sense of humor, willingness to help, and his love for good conversation.

Steven was an all-around good guy with a smile that was contagious. Steven had a passion for woodwork and the skills he needed to build anything he set his mind to. Throughout his short life he completed many carpentry projects and would bring to life any project he laid his hands on. He was a true sportsman; he enjoyed fishing and hunting any chance he could get. Steven had also developed an interest in learning how to homestead and began learning how to make different types of soaps. Steven especially enjoyed spending time with his family and ones he loved.

Steven had the ability to make anyone laugh and brought an abundance of joy to those around him. He never once met a stranger, if you met Steven you knew him from that point forward, he always mentioned his love for his children and family. There was never a dull moment with Steven; he was always laughing and had plenty of jokes to share. His heart was overflowing with love for those who had the opportunity to be around him. Steven’s love for his children was undeniably larger than life itself. He took great pride in being a “Daddy”, that was his favorite title.

He is preceded in death by his father, Larry Blighton of Jackson County Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Ashley Blighton; three daughters; Zoey Blighton, Bristol Blighton, Lainey Blighton, and a Stepson; Braylon Stewart; mother, Sarah Blighton of Cottondale, Florida; seven brothers and sisters: Clifford “Kip” Blighton (Betty) of Birmingham Alabama, Gordon Blighton (Stefanie) of Lima, Ohio, Larry Blighton Jr. (Angela) of Delphos, Ohio, Christina Jeter (Thomas) of Marianna, Florida, Christy Kelly (Jason) of Cottondale, Florida, Shannon Young of Alford, Florida, Drew Blighton (Leah) of Dothan, Alabama; aunts; Shirley Maybry of Cottondale, Florida, Lillian Blighton of Greenwood, Florida; as well as an abundance of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, friends and extended family.

Funeral services at 6 pm, Monday, August 28, 2023, Eastside Baptist Church with Grady Gamble officiating and James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

Family will receive friends beginning at 5 pm, one hour prior to the funeral at Eastside Baptist.

Interment with family only, will take place Tuesday, August 29, 2023, in Tallahassee National Cemetery with military honors by the United States Army. James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna will direct.
