Rev. Henry Earl Taylor age 73 of, Holy Neck, FL passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Southeast Heath in Dothan, Alabama surrounded by his loving family.   

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 3rd at Second West Missionary Baptist Association Church located at 4110 Herring Ave Marianna, FL, with Moderator Dwight Cockerham Sr. eulogist and Rev. Obadiah White presiding/officiating and with McKinnie Funeral Home of Campbellton, FL directing. Interment will follow at Holyneck – St. Phillips Cemetery located at 3395 Cemetery Rd. Campbellton, FL.

A public viewing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, February 2nd at Shira Sr. and Chelcie McKinnie Memorial Chapel.

Rev. Henry Taylor was born July 31, 1950, in Jackson County to the late John Henry Taylor and Ms. Elnora Capehart.

Rev. Taylor grew up in Jackson County and accepted Christ at an early age; he was raised in the Holyneck Missionary Baptist Church community. He attended St. Paul High School and graduated in 1968, later he married the love of his life Ms. Alice Joann Tanner. Rev. Taylor then went on to pursue an Associate degree in Theology at Gulf Coast, and after graduating in 1987, he became the pastor of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Webb, Alabama and Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Bonifay, Florida.

Rev. Taylor was employed at Lehigh Alliance Company for 25 years and then went on to work as a Chaplin for Florida Department of Corrections up until he retired due to health reasons. He was dedicated to his work and to his family, and he will truly be missed in and around his community.      

He leaves to cherish his memories, His loving wife: Alice Taylor; son: Tilton Taylor; mother: Elnora Sorey; sisters: Terather Williams (Sylvester), Dixie Olds, Willie Lou Hodge (Lee Norris), Linda Snell (Dallas), Lenora Olds (William), Debra Taylor Long, Alzada Taylor Robinson and Sharon Taylor Rogers; brothers: Albert Sorey (Catherine), Fred Sorey Jr. (Gail), Benjamin Sorey (Dorothy); sisters-in-law: Shirley Tanner-Cunningham and Virginia T. Wynn; brothers-in-law: Wayne Tanner (Sallie), Arnick Tanner (Sharon); uncle: Walter Taylor (Mary) and a host of loving, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
