Ms. Janie Manning Combs, age 77, of Hosford FL passed away on December 27, 2023. Janie was born on December 29, 1945, to the late Richard and Daisy Manning of Blountstown, but lived in Liberty County for most of her life. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers James and John-Henry Manning of Blountstown, sister Annie Sansom of Hardaway, husband Eddie Combs of Hosford, and daughter-in-law Sonia Brown of Telogia. Janie is survived by her three children, Marvin Brown of Telogia, Stephen (Christa) Brown of Huntsville, AL, and Joley Owens of Sneads; four sisters, Katie Reddick of Bristol, Irene Henderson of Bristol, Ina Miley of Greensboro, and Patricia (Ronnie) Moran of Pensacola; seven grandchildren, Joseph (Shilo) Brown, Tyler Brown, Christian Brown, Kaileigh Brown, Bridgit Owens, Landon Webb, and Emilee Spicer. A host of nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Janie worked at Liberty Intermediate Care Facility in the 1980’s until it closed. After leaving Liberty ICF she began working with the State of Florida where she retired from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. After retirement Janie became a stay-at-home caregiver for her husband. Janie loved embroidery, collecting lighthouses, and watching country music television shows that hosted singers from the 70s and 80s. Janie also had a soft spot in her heart for dogs. She has owned and shared her home with many dogs as pets, but she had a special place in her heart for her only surviving dog, Tyson, of sixteen years. Janie enjoyed going to church when she was able, she was of the Holiness faith, and she loved to talk about the Lord. If there was something going on in the world or in someone’s life, she would think of a Bible scripture that would fit the situation and everything would make sense. Janie had a special relationship with everyone that came into her life, and she will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, with family visitation at 12:30 am (ET), public visitation at 1:00 pm (ET), services held in the chapel at Peavy Funeral Home at 2:00 pm (ET). Funeral procession to Good Hope after the service. All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown.
