Mr. James Aaron Blount, Sr. age 96, of Jacob City, Florida went home to be with Lord on February 8, 2024 at his home.
Mr. Blount was born August 7, 1927 to the proud parents Jefferson Blount and Laura Wynn Blount.
He attended St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church School. His teachers were Malena Cotton Blount, Brother J.T. Jackson and other dedicated teachers.
At the early age of 5 years old, Mr. Jefferson and Mrs. Laura taught Mr. Bount how to work (farming, gardening, caring for chickens, gathering eggs, etc). Unfortunately, Mr. Jefferson passed away in 1935. In 1936, Mrs. Laura Blount met and married Mr. Bud Hollis Jones. Mr. Jones was a wonderful second daddy to Mr. Blount. Mr. Jones taught Mr. Blount the mechanic trade which was handed down from his father Mr. Joe Jones. Mr. Blount caught on to this mechanic trade very easily. At the age of 9 he repaired his first bicycle. At the age of 15, Mr. Blount repaired his first car (A T-Model Ford) which Mr. Jones gave him.
Mr. James Aaron Blount, Sr. told us he got his religion and was baptized at the early age of 9 years old. He was so happy that he found Jesus for himself! His main saying while rearing his children was, “Put God First”!
He met and married the gorgeous Mrs. Ruthie Mae Gillette in January 1948 at the age of 21. Together they had eight beautiful children. With God’s help Mr. James Aaron and Mrs. Ruthie Mae pushed their children to a higher education. All of the girls went on to college and beyond. Mr. James Aaron Blount, Sr. instilled the mechanic trade in all of his boys! From this mechanic training, his boys invested in a mechanic shop (Magnolia Auto Services Center) in Tallahassee, FL. Because of the mechanic skills taught to them by Mr. Blount, The Magnolia Auto Services Center proved to be a very successful business.
Mr. James Aaron Blount, Sr. had nine children. He had thirty-one grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, and fourteen great-great grandchildren.
Because Mr. James Aaron Blount, Sr. was Legend that (1) Separated well. (2) Served well. (3) Stood well. (4) Suffered well throughout his entire life: I can hear the Lord say, “Well done my good and faithful servant! Welcome Home!”
Public visitation will be 3-6 PM, Friday, February 16, 2024, in the M. Sue and Rodney D. Pittman Memorial Chapel, 5441 Cooper Street, Graceville, Florida.
A celebration of life will commence at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 17, 2024 from the sanctuary of the Saint Mary Missionary Baptist Church, 2286 Jacob Main Street, Jacob City, Florida with the Reverend Obadiah White, Pastor/Teacher and Minister Anton Blount, his son, delivering Words of Comfort to family and friends.
Mr. Blount will be laid to rest in the church cemetery under the directions of Christian Memorial Chapel of Graceville, Florida.
