MPD Press Release

The TIMES received the following press release via MPD May 14, 2021 : On Thursday May 13, 2021 at approximately 9:16 p.m. officers with the Marianna Police Department were conducting a routine traffic patrol of the 4300 block of Lafayette Street. While patrolling this area, officers observed a white in color, Toyota pickup, traveling east on Lafayette Street at 56 m.p.h. in a 35-m.p.h. zone. A traffic stop was subsequently conducted on this vehicle. The driver was identified as Marley Booker. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. The search yielded a large amount of marijuana, a sum of cash, a scale, bags, and a loaded firearm. Mr. Booker had previously advised the officer that there were several ounces of marijuana in the vehicle which he did sometimes sell. Booker also stated that there was a firearm in the vehicle that did belong to him and he did not possess a concealed carry permit. Booker is being charged with possession of marijuana with Intent to distribute and possession or use of a weapon in the commission of a felony.
