Mattie Lou (Whitaker) Moore of the Bethlehem Community in Holmes County, passed away at the age of 92. Mrs. Moore was born October 21, 1931. The youngest of 11 children, to the late Joseph Jonas Whitaker and Banion Ann Elizabeth Vanlandingham Whitaker October 21, 1931.

Mattie Lou was a lifelong member of Red Hill United Methodist Church. In her latter years she attended Carmel Assembly of God.

Mrs. Moore is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Curtis Whitaker, Charley Lawson Whitaker, Frank Whitaker, Floyd Whitaker, Herbert Whitaker, Hiram Whitaker, Hoyt Whitaker, Robert Whitaker, Lavada Forehand; husband of 59 years, Hubert Merlion Moore in 2015.
She is survived by her sister, Luverne Williams; son’s; Larry Moore (Peggy), Jerry Moore (Kim); daughter, Beverly Anderson (Charles); five grandchildren, Chris Anderson, Clay Moore (Sarah), Krystal Moore, Cason Moore (Emily), Cameron Moore; great grandchildren, Logan Anderson, John Thomas Anderson; three great great grandchildren, Kelsey Moore, Silas Moore and Campbell Moore.

Special thanks to Emerald Coast Hospice for the excellent care that was given to our Mother. Special thanks and sincere appreciation to all the caregivers; Lisa Barnes, Missy Marker, Tracey Lolley, Uneta Henderson, Susan Jakelasky, Libby Roster, Malvia Cook, Virginia Lee, Valeria Dunn, Jeanette Sketo and Peggy Palantios. Also a special thanks to Dr. Patrick Hawkins and Dr. Rodney K. Beauchamp.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 11 AM at Carmel Assembly of God with Pastor Tommy Moore officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 AM, one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in the Red Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery immediately following services with Tommy Moore and Roger Whitaker presiding, James & Sikes Funeral Homes Maddox Chapel of Marianna directing.
