Louise Wells McGowan, 89, of Esto, Florida, went to be with Her Lord and Savior Friday morning, October 27, 2023, surrounded by her family at home.

Mrs. Louise, a lifelong resident of Holmes County, was born on February 23, 1934, to the late James Omer “J.O” Wells and Lizzie Pearl Watford Wells. A graduate of Holmes County High School, Class of 1951, she was one of 9 children. She loved her church, First Baptist Church of Esto where she faithfully served as the pianist for over 70 years. She loved spending time playing games with family and friends. Mrs. Louise retired from the Van Heusen Corporation where she had worked for over 40 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill McGowan, son Tony McGowan, sisters Inez Galloway, Lynette Crutchfield, Martha Register, Jeanette Berry, Frances Kirkland, brothers Alfred Wells, Malcom Wells, and Billy Wells.

She leaves behind two daughters Teresa McGowan of Esto, FL Donna Goodman of Phenix City, AL, one son John McGowan of Esto, FL, five grandchildren Jeremy (Samantha) McGowan of El Paso, TX Caleb (Becca) Goodman, Jordan Goodman, Josiah Goodman, Libby Goodman, all of Phenix City, AL, one great grandson Cade McGowan of El Paso, TX, and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Home-going service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, October 30, 2023, at Esto Baptist Church with Bro.’s Robb Goodman and Byron Faircloth officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery with James & Lipford Funeral Home in Graceville directing.

Family will receive friends at the church on Monday, 1 p.m. until time of the service.
