Jimmy Franklin Wilson, a treasured husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2023, in Tallahassee, FL. Born on December 13, 1951, in Donalsonville, GA, Jimmy was a beacon of love, kindness, and courage throughout his 71 years of life.

Jimmy was the beloved son of the late Willie Winford Wilson and Annie Clyde Blocker Wilson. After the passing of his mother, he and his siblings were lovingly raised by his bonus mother, Cawien Elizabeth Edenfield Wilson. Jimmy is survived by his devoted wife, Dina Howell Wilson, and his cherished daughters, Kelly Ann Boyd (Daniel) and Angela Hope Massey. He is also survived by his stepchildren; Joni Bonine, Tony McDaniel, and Joshua Bonine, whom he loved as his own.

Jimmy was the proud brother of Dorothy Wester (Dennis), Marilyn Wilson Waters (Marvin), Marinda Sue Wilson, and Timothy Lee Wilson (Keri). He was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews, and a dear brother-in-law to Janet Wilson, Stacy Gibson, Donna Ellis, and Brad Howell. His legacy also lives on in his grandchildren, Nick Reynolds, Will Boyd, Cole Massey, Brett McDaniel, and Jacob McDaniel, and his great-granddaughter, Xaila Massey. Jimmy’s love for animals was evident in his special bond with his canine companions, Boo Boo and Gypsy, who survive him.

After high school, Jimmy enlisted in the US Army, where he served his country with courage and dedication for 30 years before retiring in 2006. His military service was a testament to his deep love for his country and his unwavering commitment to protecting its freedoms.

Jimmy had a passion for the great outdoors. He loved to hunt and fish, often sharing these experiences with his family and friends. He had a soft spot for animals, frequently taking in strays in need of a home. His love for family was paramount, and he cherished family gatherings, particularly during the Christmas season, which was his favorite time of the year. Jimmy was especially proud of his daughters, Kelly and Hope, and his love for them was immeasurable.

Jimmy will be remembered for his loving nature, his kindness to others, and his courage, both in his military service and in his personal life. He had a heart that was always open, a hand that was always ready to help, and a spirit that was unbreakable.

As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “It is not length of life, but depth of life.” Jimmy Franklin Wilson lived a life of depth, filled with love, service, and compassion. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

May his soul rest in peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire those he has left behind.

A funeral service will be held for Jimmy on Monday, November 27, 2023, beginning at 1:00 PM Eastern Time in the chapel of McAlpin Funeral Home.
