Helen Pearce Caughran, 91, of Malone died Saturday, August 19, 2023 at her residence.

Helen was the middle of eight children born to John Hamilton and Leverna Pearce in Dothan, Alabama on February 2, 1932. She graduated from Malone High School in 1950 where she was a member of the Glee Club. She married Charles Donald Vaughn, August 19, 1950 and worked with her husband in the family grocery store. Angie was born to them in 1956. After Donald’s passing in 1965, she married Donald Higgins Caughran in 1969. Helen was faithfully involved with many activities of Malone High School especially the band. She loved First Baptist Church of Malone where she served many roles…youth director, choir member and soloist, G.A. leader, and was a ladies Sunday School teacher. She retired from the State of Florida and enjoyed twenty years of retirement with her husband traveling and using their talents for the Lord. After her husband passed in 2014, she continued to enjoy time with friends and family and telling people about Jesus, many times over the phone.

She is survived by her daughter, Angie and husband, Jim Tyler of Marianna and their children, Julie Smith and husband, Steve with two children, Mary Helen Smith and husband, Vince with three children, J. D. Tyler and wife Megan with one child. Step children; Roseanne Caughran with children, Shawn Gause and wife, Minnie and their two children, Dekle Willis and wife Cassie and their three children; Ross Caughran and wife, Sissy with children Austin, Aaron, Lyle, and Michael Caughran with wife, Jessie and their child; Cathy Hamm and husband Kenny and their daughter, Stephanie Ward and husband, Keith and their two children. Sister, Martha Hutchinson and her husband, Joe Ed of Panama City. Mrs. Caughran also leaves behind many wonderful nieces and nephews and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her siblings; J. W. Pierce and wife Liza, Talmadge Pearce and wife Shirley, Jeanette Bruner and husband Earl, Joleen Evins and husband Hubert, John Hamilton and wife Maureen, and sister Ann Varnadore.

Visitation will be 1:30 pm until 2:30 pm Tuesday, August 22, 2023 with funeral to follow at 3:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Malone, with pastors, Vince Smith and Steven Welch officiating. Internment will follow at Lovedale Baptist Church Cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

Flowers will be accepted or donations in lieu of flowers may be made to First Baptist Church of Malone Choir (P. O. Box 98 Malone, Fl 32445).
