Glenda Hayes Beach, 79, of Quincy, Florida, passed away on February 2, 2023. She was born in Chipley, Florida, to Otis and Belle Hayes. After graduating from Free Will Baptist College, Glenda began a teaching career that spanned more than 40 years. On May 15, 1968, Glenda married Robert and together they raised three children, Keith, Clay, and Melody.

Glenda was an active member of Grace Baptist Church where she played the congregational piano for more than 50 years. Glenda, along with the love of her life, Robert, enjoyed riding the roads visiting family and friends, always giving of themselves without any expectations in return, only trying to make someone else’s life a little easier along the way. One can imagine the singing going on in Heaven, Glenda playing a solid gold piano with Granddaddy Otis leading the singing. Heaven just got a whole lot sweeter.

Glenda was actively involved in all her children’s lives. “Mammaw” was happiest when she was surrounded by her “greatest blessings”, her grandchildren and great grands. From helping with schoolwork, to teaching them how to crawl and walk, she always seemed to know what to do. The hole in our hearts and lives will never be filled, but our memories of her will keep us comforted forever.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law Andy Potter and a grandson Eric Blackburn. She is survived by husband Robert; children Keith (Lynda), Clay (Amy) and Melody; grandchildren Chuck, Anna, Hannah, Andrea, Drew and Meredith; great grandchildren Bryer, Connor, Eli, Rylee and Travis; brothers Gwynn (Mary Joyce) Hayes and Wayne (Patricia) Hayes; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 12-1:30 PM ET on Monday, February 6, 2023 at Grace Baptist Church, Quincy, Florida, with funeral services beginning at 1:30 PM ET. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Quincy, Florida.

Flowers are welcomed or contributions in memory of Mrs. Glenda can be sent to the Lighthouse Children’s Home in Tallahassee, FL or The Pregnancy Center of Gadsden County, FL.

All arrangements are under the direction of McAlpin Funeral Home in Sneads, Florida.
