Dorothy “Dottie” Fay Greer, age 88, of Cottondale, FL passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 27, 2024.
Dorothy was born on February 20, 1935 to Ernest and Mary Montain in Detroit, Michigan. On July 29, 1961, Dorothy married Bert Greer in Albany, Georgia. She devoted her life to providing a wonderful and loving home to her family. Dorothy spent a lifetime sharing her faith as a devoted Sunday School Teacher, most recently, at Cottondale First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Mary Montain; son, William Glenn Perkins; sisters, Lovey, Lucille, Lorraine and Rosemary as well as her brothers, Albert, Harvey and Ernest.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Bert Greer; children, Kristina Zalzal and husband, Fred, Doug Greer and wife, Patricia, Raymond Greer and wife, Marsha; grandchildren, Rebecca and husband, Reggie, Charles, Amethyst and husband, Kevin, Chancey and wife, Kristin, Sabrina, Rachael and husband, Chris; and great grandchildren, Alexander, Ellis, Joan, Lily Ann, Carson, Madison, Leigh Anna; as well as her sister-in-law’s, Ruthie Swain, Gladys Taylor, and Bonnie Messer.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. CST, Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Braxton officiating. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 9:00 A.M. CST until the time of service at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be at 2 P.M. EST Wednesday, January 31, 2024 in the Tallahassee National Cemetery with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing.
