Donna Wells, age 63, of Marianna, FL passed away April 3, 2024 at Jackson Hospital. Donna was born September 10, 1960 in Concord, CA.
At the age of 3, Donna was adopted by her paternal grandparents, Dewey Wells and Norma Sasser Wells of Marianna, FL. Donna attended school in Marianna and during her time at Marianna Middle School she met someone who would remain an important part of her life – her dear friend, Robert Weaver.
Donna graduated from Marianna High School June 1, 1979. She lived in many places around Marianna after Granny Well’s passing in Feb 1976. In September 1995, she became part of the Habilitative Services family by joining our Supported Living program. Through this service Donna accomplished one of her biggest goals of having her own home built in Feb 1996. Her home was strategically located behind her long-time friend, Robert Weaver, and down the road from her long-time boyfriend James Griffin. From then on you rarely saw one without the other two- the trio of trouble. Donna spent her days enjoying time with friends, listening to music and attending both JCARC and WHARC.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Marianna, FL and also attended services with her friend Treneshia Joiner at Deliverance Baptist Church. Donna loved holidays and birthdays – really any reason to celebrate made Donna happy. She also had an insatiable sweet tooth and was not above conning people into sneaking treats into her home that she wasn’t supposed to have and hiding the evidence from Heidi and Erica.
Although Donna did not have any blood relatives in her adult life, she had a large circle of friends that she considered her family. Some of her most important connections were with Heidi Perkins, SLC, Erica Smith, SLC, Glyn Seay, WSC, Janice Sloan, Robert Weaver, James Griffin, Belinda Harris, Treneshia Joiner and Richard Hinson.
Donna was proceeded in death by her grandfather Dewey Wells, her beloved grandmother Norma Wells, Uncle Donald Wells and her dear friend Belinda Harris.
Memorial service will be 2 PM Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Rev. Chris Franklin officiating with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
Visitation will be from 1:30 – 2 PM at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
