David Alan Hall, 79, of Grand Ridge, Florida went home to our Heavenly Father in the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Jackson Hospital.

David served his country in 1964-1965, as an Air Force Medic in Vietnam.  Upon his return he went to the University of Texas at El Paso, and graduated with a BS in Finance.  In his early years, while living in New Mexico, he worked for International Harvester and Dunn & Bradstreet as a Finance Manager.  He married his wife, Suzanne in 1966, and they have been married for 57 years.

He and his family moved to Marianna, FL in 1987.  He worked for Lehigh Furniture in the trucking department until their closure and then for Martin Gas.  David eventually purchased his own 24 foot straight truck and contracted with Landstar Transportation for many more years until his retirement.  In 1995, he fulfilled his dream of owning land and moved to Grand Ridge where he farmed 40+ acres for personal use and enjoyment.

David is preceded in death by his mother, Mellie Jones Hall and father, Joseph Drew Hall, both of Blountstown, FL;  older brother, Donald Hall of Charlotte, N.C.; older sisters, Thais Whittle of Perry, FL and Freida Lewis Hall of Blountstown, FL.

He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Hall of Grand Ridge, FL; three children, Jeannine (and her husband, Clinton) Haslett of Los Lunas, NM; son, Bruce (and his wife, Beate) Hall of Mabelvale, AR; and daughter, Cassandra (and her husband, Wayne) Smith of Grand Ridge, FL; sister-in-law, Christine Pletka of Mayfield, NY; nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

David is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Marianna, where he enjoyed helping with dinners and community activities.  David loved farming, growing and giving away veggies to friends and family, and raising and enjoying his many dogs.

Memorial service will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 9, 2023 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Petey Sims officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, we request donations go to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, the Marianna Partners for Pets program, or the Endeavor program for the Autistic in Marianna, FL.
