Charlotte Faye “Charli” Branch, age 65, of Monticello, Florida passed away peacefully on September 28, 2023, in Tallahassee, Florida.

She was born February 4, 1958, in Marianna, Florida, to Elias Lamar and Avie Dell Hamm Branch. She was raised in a farm family in Grand Ridge, Florida, and was a working member whether it was working in the fields or selling produce at the Birmingham Market. After graduating from Grand Ridge High School in 1976, she put herself through college, working part-time jobs and gaining scholarships. She graduated from the University of West Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work in 1985.  She also earned an Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education and Psychology from Pensacola Junior College.

Charlotte was a talented musician, playing the piano in the Shady Grove Methodist Church of which she was a member for some twenty years. She also composed music for workshops at the University of West Florida with her Social Work Degree.

Charlotte was not destined to be tied to an office and she tried several other occupations, but her real love was being on the road. To that end, she delivered freight, running her own business, delivering small packages locally as well as going wherever the “hot shot” would take her. She was a member of the A.A. community, made many friends along with her sobriety and cherished their friendship.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; her four brothers Ethan Branch (Rita), Carl Branch (Janice),

Harold Branch, and Cecil Branch (Joy). She is survived by one sister-in-law, Judy Branch; her companion and life partner of 33 years, Marie E. Logan as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Charlotte’s family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at HCA Florida Capital Hospital and the Big Bend Hospice House for the care they provided for her in her last days.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to Big Bend Hospice Dozier House (1723 Mahan Center Blvd Tallahassee, FL  32308) in memory of Ms. Charlotte.

A Celebration of Charlotte’s life will be held in the chapel of McAlpin Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, beginning at 10:00 AM Central Time with Rev. Gary Gable officiating.  Interment will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery in Grand Ridge, Florida.  Visitation will be held Monday, October 2, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at McAlpin Funeral Home.
