Bobby Breen Hughes, Sr., 82, of Marianna went to his heavenly home on Sunday, February 18, 2024 after a brief illness.
Bobby was born in Cottonwood, AL to the late Odell and Sara Hughes. Bobby loved the Lord! He was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Marianna where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, on the Board of Trustees, Youth Leader, as the cook for and with his church family, and as a member of the Songsters Choir. He retired from Florida Public Utilities after 37 years. He also worked as an appliance repairman and ran the concessions for the Circle D Ranch rodeos. His hobbies included cooking, woodworking, music, sports enthusiast and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of almost 50 years, Peggy G. Hughes; his brothers, Sonny and Billy, brother-in-law, Ben Gary, and sister-in-law, June Hughes.
Survivors include one son, Bobby Hughes, Jr. (Jill) of Montgomery, AL; three daughters Angie Lambert (Paul) of Kodak, TN, Regena Gosnay (Steven) of Robertsdale, AL and Alanna Watts (Joe) of Sopchoppy, FL; brother, Dell (Karen) of Marianna, sister Betty Gary of Clanton, AL and sister-in-law, Emma Hughes of Dothan, AL; four grandchildren, Justen Matthews (Chelsie), Faith Keiser, Micah Keiser, and Danita Chavers (Scotty); five great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews; extended family, Betty Sue, Suzette and Paul Parramore.
Funeral services will be at 11 AM, Friday, February 23, 2024 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Nathan Attwood & Rev. Bill Elwell officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM, Thursday, February 22, 2024 in the Wesley Center at First United Methodist Church of Marianna.
