Ms. Veatrice Burn Harding of Grand Ridge, Florida entered into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 28th at the Chipola Health & Rehab Center. She was 99 years of age.


She was of Methodist faith and a member St. Rose African Methodist Episcopal Church. She served as a choir member, Chairperson for the Stewardess Board and Steward over Communion. She taught in the public school system of Jackson County at Lilly Blanks Elementary and Grand Ridge High School before retiring in 1980.


She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Florida A&M University. Veatrice had over a 30 year career as a teacher of young people.


She leaves to celebrate her life, her godson and nephew, Elder Gregory E. Wilson (Robbie), nieces, Sharon Burns, Christine Pittman, Linda Blatch (Arthur), Carolyn Elkins and Janice Lowery (Jerrell); nephews, Ronald Wilson, (Annette), Wayne Burns (Rosa), Julius Burns; as well as a host of other relatives.


The body will lie in repose at St. Rose African Methodist Episcopal Church in Grand Ridge on Saturday, December 11th from 11:00-11:45.


A homegoing celebration will be held graveside on Saturday, December 11th at 12 noon at Sunset Memory Gardens with Rev. Evelyn Creal-Wilcox, Rev. Arthur Blatch and Elder Greg Wilson officiating. Interment will follow with arrangements entrusted to the Caring Staff at Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna.
