Mr. Howard Theodis Roche, Jr., a cherished family man and an admired figure in his community, passed away peacefully from natural causes in Panama City, Florida on October 21, 2023. Born on August 8, 1966, in Panama City, Florida, Mr. Roche, who was fondly known as Howard or “Uncle BoBo”, left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered with his gentle and thoughtful demeanor.

Howard was raised in Vernon, Florida and later moved to Sunny Hills, Florida, where he was known for his handy nature and his vast love for music. He was a 1984 graduate of Vernon High School and was remembered there for his dedication to his studies and his friendly personality. Throughout his life, Howard’s love for music remained a constant, often found at home with his stereo playing his favorite tunes while he diligently worked in his yard. He was also an avid fisherman, often escaping to his favorite fishing holes, and he was known for always catching the most fish.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Howard Theodis Roche, Sr., and Mrs. Mary Katherine Roche; his sisters, Ella Knight, Yhonsetta Stephenson, and Barbara Roche, and his nephew James Potter.

He is survived by his sisters Audrey Curry of Hollywood, Florida, Nettie Westry of Panama City, Florida, Alta Roche of Marianna, Florida, and Faye Siples of Sunny Hills, Florida. He also leaves behind a special nephew, Brandon Bell of Sunny Hills, Florida, seven nieces, six additional nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

His family also includes his two great uncles, Sylvester Massaline of Sunny Hills, Florida and James Massaline of Orlando, Florida, who will fondly remember Howard for his thoughtful nature and his love for family. Howard’s memory also lives on in his numerous cousins, relatives, and friends who will dearly miss his gentle presence.

Howard’s life was marked by his love for music, his passion for fishing, and his dedication to yard work. He had a unique ability to turn even the most ordinary day into a melodious one, with his favorite tunes playing in the background. He was always ready to lend a hand, offering his handy skills to those in need. And on days when he wasn’t working in his yard or helping others, he could be found at his favorite fishing spots, often accompanied by a lucky companion.

In remembering Howard, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and passion. A life marked by love for family and friends, a life that brought joy and happiness to those around him. His memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew him, a testament to a life well-lived. Howard Theodis Roche, Jr., a man of many talents and a heart full of love, will be deeply missed by all.

Public visitation will be 3-6 PM, Friday, November 3, 2023, in the M. Sue & Rodney D. Pittman Memorial Chapel, 5441 Cooper Street, Graceville, Florida.

A celebration of life will begin at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 4, 2023 from the Sylvania AME Church Cemetery in Vernon, Florida with Brother Leonard Dean officiating, under the directions of Christian Memorial Chapel of Graceville, Florida.
