Terence Christopher Murphy, age 68, born December 24, 1951, died Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at the River Valley Nursing Home in Blountstown, Florida.

Terence was born in the Touro Infirmary in New Orleans, Louisiana to James Weeks Murphy, his father and Christiane Murphy, his mother. He was their third son.

In his younger days, Terence was a champion track and cross-country athlete. He was an avid tennis player and professional collegiate sports fan. He attended Northwestern University in Natchitoches, Louisiana on a Track and Cross-Country Scholarship. He earned his living as a men’s fine clothing salesman with Macy’s in Tallahassee being his last job. He was a very gregarious, outgoing man with a ready joke and got along well with all kinds of people. He had an impeccable memory for names, facts, and dates.

Terence is survived by two sisters, Kathleen Sullivan of Sneads, Florida and Colleen Marcotte of Bristol, Rhode Island; three brothers, Harry Murphy of Shreveport, Louisiana, James Murphy of Richmond, Virginia, and Dennis Murphy of Tallahassee, Florida; step-mother, Irene Golnik of Little Rock, Arkansas; a nephew, Micheal Murphy (Colleen) of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky; two nieces, Maggie Murphy of Tallahassee, Florida and Michelle Peterson (David) of Sierra Blanca, Texas; numerous great nieces and nephews, and a very special friend, Patsy King.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of River Valley Nursing Home for the care and concern given to Terence while he was in their care.

Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, no services are planned at this time.

McAlpin Funeral Home of Sneads, Florida is assisting the family.
