Zack “Jack” Mitchell, Jr.

Zack “Jack” Mitchell, Jr. age 87, of Grand Ridge, Florida passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 after a short illness.   He was born January 2, 1935 in Dellwood to the late Zack Mitchell and Daisy Green Mitchell. Zack was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist/Hillside Church in Grand Ridge.   He retired from Florida State Hospital.  Zack loved to farm, loved his wife and helping others.  Zack and Florencie were married 62 years before her death on May 31, 2021. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florencie Mervyne Cannon Mitchell, his daughter, Charlotte Ann Mitchell; father, Zack Mitchell and mother Daisy Green Mitchell, three brothers, Leslie Mitchell, James “Shorty” Wilson Mitchell and Thomas Counts “TC” Mitchell. Zack is survived by his daughter, Belinda Mitchell Miles and husband, Johnnie; two grandchildren, Myra Lindsey Miles and Beau Mitchell Miles of Grand Ridge; brother, Franklin “Dick” Mitchell of Dellwood, sisters, Annie Lou Rabon of Sneads, Daisy Suggs and husband Floyd of Dellwood, and Doris Hale of Mobile, AL and several nieces and nephews.    Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Pleasant Hill Baptist/Hillside Church in Grand Ridge with Rev. Dallas Ellis officiating. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday, February 18, 2022 at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hillside Church Building Fund, P.O.
